New DWS fund reflects UN Sustainable Development Goals
DWS has added the DWS Invest SDG Global Equities to its family of sustainability funds. Launched on 2 November 2018 and managed by Paul Buchwitz, the fund invests its capital in accordance with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). These are based on the United Nations Agenda 2030, which was adopted by all member states in September 2015. To achieve an attractive value increase, the fund focuses on companies generating a significant portion of their revenues from activities that meet the United Nations' sustainability goals and hold long-term growth potential. All portfolio companies are required to meet the sustainability criteria set out by DWS, combining exclusion criteria with a best-in-class approach.
Using a focused bottom-up approach, the DWS Invest SDG Global Equities invests globally in 40 to 60 companies with their revenues attributable to activities that are in line with the SDG targets. At least 50 percent of the funds invested in the DWS Invest SDG Global Equities will be linked to the SDG in some way, compared to around 6 percent in the MSCI World equity index. The relevant companies for this funds are filtered out of the investment universe using DWS’s in-house ESG Engine.
This year, DWS has greatly expanded its range of sustainability funds, most recently with the launch of the DWS Invest Green Bonds and the DWS Invest ESG European Small/Mid Cap fund. In addition, the following investment funds were converted into sustainability funds: DWS ESG Euro Bonds (Long), DWS ESG Euro Bonds (Medium), DWS ESG Euro Bonds (Short) and DWS ESG Multi Asset Dynamic. Additionally DWS launched 4 ESG Xtrackers ETF: Xtrackers ESG MSCI World, Xtrackers ESG MSCI Japan, Xtrackers ESG MSCI USA, Xtrackers ESG MSCI Europe.
