DWS extends portfolio with onshore wind farm in Sweden

DWS has acquired 100 percent of the shares in the Swedish onshore wind farm Heather Wind AB on behalf of its European infrastructure investment strategy.

The onshore wind farm in Ljungbyholm, Sweden, has been in operation since June 2021 and has a total capacity of 48 megawatts peak (MWp) from 12 Nordex turbines. The electricity generated is used to supply private households and commercial customers.

DWS is acquiring the asset from Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust plc - one of the largest renewable energy investors in Europe. The operator of the onshore wind farm is OX2, a leading renewable energy developer.

Peter Brodehser, Partner Investments Infrastructure at DWS said: "I am delighted that we are able to further diversify the portfolio of our European infrastructure strategy for German investors, launched in April 2023, both regionally and in terms of technology. Following the acquisition of a solar plant in Germany and a solar portfolio in Spain, this is the first onshore wind farm we purchase for our strategy. The technology is state-of-the-art, and the wind farm benefits from its embedding in an attractive price region. In addition to an attractive return opportunity, we offer our investors the opportunity to invest in future-oriented infrastructure and renewable energy projects."

Investments both from institutional and from retail clients are needed to drive change and enable European transformation projects, particularly in the energy sector.
